History and foundation
of the vacation home

The farmhouse in Nestelberg tells a story full of life and tradition. Several hundred years old, it bears traces of an eventful past. Originally owned by the Gaming Charterhouse, it later passed into the hands of lumberjacks and farmers. For five generations, the house has belonged to the family of host Reinhard, who took over from his parents in 2014.

At the beginning of this era, the farm was primarily used for agricultural purposes. However, working in the old building, which was in dire need of renovation, became increasingly challenging. It quickly became clear that something had to be done.

The first conversion work was started to prepare the house for the owner’s use. Old construction sins from the 1990s were undone. Instead, reclaimed wood from their own stock and authentic heirlooms and objects from the farmhouse were used as decoration. The house was renovated piece by piece with great craftsmanship and dedication. This gave rise to the idea of sharing the special charm of this place with others and bringing new life to the farmhouse.

Rustic meets modern:
The construction method

The vacation home was built from materials that have always been available in the region: Stone, clay, lime and wood. This traditional construction method has been retained in order to preserve the authentic charm of the house. At the same time, it has been equipped with modern technology to offer maximum comfort.

Today, Nestelberg combines historical authenticity with modern standards. It is not only a retreat, but also a piece of living history that breathes the spirit of the Ybbstal Alps.

“One of my favorite photos – my grandma skiing in Nestelberg in the late 1930s. Nestelberg has always had a close connection to skiing back then as a means of transportation, today as the perfect backdrop for winter adventures at the foot of the Ötscher.”
